Ballet (ages 2+):

Creative Ballet

This class is an entry level to our Pre-Ballet class where the kids learn the early fundamentals of ballet through interactive and fairy tale songs. We use tons of imagination play by turning ourselves into all kinds of fairies and creatures as we learn the basics of ballet. While most of our classes are level-based, this class is designed for ages 2-3 years old.

Pre-Ballet

During this class we focus deeper into the proper fundamentals of ballet. We start class center floor and spend time on ballet positions and proper stretching. We begin to discuss the benefits of good posture and soft fingers for future ballet levels. Throughout the class we spend time at the barre, across the floor, and learning fun routines that help us understand and love the art of ballet. While most of our classes are level-based, this class is designed for ages 3-5 years old. Tippy Toes are the only requirement for this class 😊

Ballet Level 1

Ballet is stressed as a graceful yet strong dance. The students are challenged to better their positions, posture, and arms to help them master their skills. Each class starts at the barre, where ballet technique is drilled and encouraged. After the barre, the class will stretch to enhance their flexibility needed for future levels. We will spend time learning the basics of ballet jumps, leaps, and turns, as well as feet combinations across the floor. We end every ballet class with a fun mini routine and curtsy to the teacher.  This class is designed for ages 6+.

Requirements for Level 2:

  • Understanding and execution of all 5 positions with proper arm placements
  • Plie exercises mastered by keeping your bottom tucked in and spine straight
  • Execute a turned out tendu during all barre exercises.
  • Master ballet jumps with proper pointed feet and body placement
  • Understanding the basics of pre-turns, leaps, and feet exercises done across the floor
  • Class etiquette and respect towards teacher

Ballet Level 2

This class is known as our beginning/intermediate level. In this class we continue to master the skills learned in level 1. We make sure our bodies are reaching upward with strong arms and soft fingers. We incorporate proper head movements during barre routines and enhance our stretches to get us to the next level. Across the floor and barre combinations are turned up a notch to accommodate faster feet work and turns. Most skills in level 2 are done to a faster beat with higher expectations. Each student must have the appropriate skills in order to take a ballet level 2 class.

Requirements for Level 3:

  • Recognize names of ballet skills and pronounce them appropriately
  • Ability to count music
  • Mastery of plie’s, degage, rond de jambe, and forced arch exercises at barre
  • Ballet jumps mastered with proper pointed feet and body placement
  • Mastery of simple chaine turns with proper head spotting
  • Single pirouette
  • Understanding the basics of battement, traveling combos, and glissades across the floor
